What is UKIYO?
UKIYO is a hair salon at 28 Helwick St, Wānaka. Our online store sells the professional haircare we use in the salon, including Kérastase, Redken and Sebastian Professional, so you can keep the same routine at home. We choose ranges based on what works on our own clients' hair.

Do you ship haircare NZ-wide?
Yes, we ship anywhere in New Zealand from our salon in Wānaka, and shipping is free on orders over $75. Everything we sell is genuine salon stock, the same products we use in the chair.

How do I choose the right Kérastase range?
Start with what your hair is doing. Nutritive is for dry hair, Blond Absolu for blonde hair that goes brassy, Densifique for fine or flat hair. Nutritive Bain Satin and Bain Satin Riche are a common question: Riche is richer, for thicker or drier hair. Our Kérastase range guide covers the rest.

What's the best shampoo for fine, flat hair?
We usually reach for Sebastian Volupt Max Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner or Redken Volume Injection. Volupt Max gives a fuller, thicker feel. Volume Injection is lighter and very clean, good if your roots get flat quickly. Pair either with a light conditioner on the ends only. Can I get advice on which products to buy?
Yes. Message us or ask in the salon and one of our stylists will recommend products for your hair. If you've had colour or a cut with us, we already know your hair, so just ask at your next appointment.
