Questions we get asked +
Which mousse is best for fine hair?
All three we stock are volume mousses. Wella Eimi Extra-Volume Mousse gives the most lift and hold. Wella Volumizing + Thickening Mousse is better if your hair feels thin as well as flat. Redken Full Volume Mousse sits in between and brushes out softly. Our stylists compare them in best mousse for volume.
How much mousse should I use and where do I put it?
About the size of a golf ball for shoulder-length hair, less if it's short and more if it's long or thick. Apply it to towel-dried hair, starting at the roots and combing through to the ends. Then blow-dry with a round brush or upside down. Mousse needs heat to give its full lift.
Will mousse make my hair crunchy?
It shouldn't if you use the right amount and blow-dry it. Crunchiness usually comes from too much product, or from letting mousse air dry on straight hair. If your hair does feel stiff once it's dry, brush through it and it'll soften. Curly hair is the exception, where a bit of crunch while drying is normal and you scrunch it out afterwards.
Can I use mousse on curly or wavy hair?
Yes. Scrunch it into soaking wet hair and diffuse or air dry. It gives waves definition without the weight of a cream. If your curls are dry, put a curl cream on first and the mousse over the top. See more options in our curly and wavy hair collection.
