Questions we get asked +
What does Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate do?
It's Redken's range for damaged hair, especially hair that's been coloured or lightened. Redken says its acidic pH formula with citric acid strengthens weakened hair and repairs damage over time. In the salon we use it most for blondes and clients who colour regularly. Our Acidic Bonding Concentrate routine guide sets out the full order of use.
What order do I use the Acidic Bonding Concentrate products in?
Start with the Intensive Treatment on damp hair before shampooing, once a week. Then shampoo, condition, and on wash days that need more, swap the conditioner for the mask. Finish with the leave-in treatment on towel-dried hair, followed by the serum on the ends once your hair is dry or styled. You don't need every step from day one; shampoo, conditioner and leave-in is a solid start.
Is Acidic Bonding Concentrate good for curly hair?
Yes. The shampoo and conditioner suit curls, and there's a dedicated Acidic Bonding Curls Leave-In Treatment made for curl definition and damage. Apply it to soaking wet hair, scrunch and air-dry or diffuse. If your curls are lightened or coloured as well, this range is a better fit than a standard curl line.
How does it compare with Olaplex?
Both are aimed at damaged hair, but they're built differently and suit slightly different routines. We've written an honest comparison in Acidic Bonding Concentrate vs Olaplex, including which one we'd pick for different types of damage.
How often should I use the Intensive Treatment?
Once a week works for most damaged hair. Apply it to damp hair before shampooing, leave it for the time on the pack, then wash and condition as normal. If your hair is very damaged after a major colour change or a run of lightening appointments, you can use it more often for a few weeks, then drop back.
