Questions we get asked +

Is this the same as Wella SP (System Professional)?
No, they're separate. Wella System Professional (often shortened to SP) is a salon haircare range covering repair, colour and hydration. The Scalp + Hair Thickening System is Wella's scalp-care range for hair that looks thinner, sold in four numbered systems. People often search one and find the other, so it's worth checking which you're after.

Which Scalp + Hair Thickening System number should I choose?
Wella splits it by two questions: is your hair natural or chemically treated, and is the thinning look light or more noticeable? Systems 1 and 2 are for natural, uncoloured hair; 3 and 4 are for coloured or chemically treated hair. The lower number in each pair is for a light thinning look, the higher one for more progressed thinning. If you're unsure, try the Trial Kit first.

How do I use the three steps in each System?
Wash with the System Shampoo, then use the Conditioner through the lengths and rinse. On towel-dried hair, apply the Leave on Treatment to the scalp, not the lengths, and don't rinse it out. Wella designs it as a daily routine, and like most scalp care it takes consistent use before you'll judge it. Style as normal afterwards.

What are the Thickening Gel, Mousse and Diaboost Serum for?
They're the add-ons. The Hair Thickening Gel and Volumizing + Thickening Mousse are stylers that make each strand feel fuller and give more body when you blow-dry. Diaboost Advanced Hair Thickening Serum is a leave-on treatment Wella positions for thicker-looking hair. You can use them with any of the four systems.

Should I see a doctor about thinning hair?
Yes, if you're losing more hair than usual, notice patches, or it's happened quickly. Hair loss can be linked to health, hormones, medication or stress, and a GP or dermatologist is the right first stop. Scalp care and styling products help hair look and feel fuller, but they don't diagnose or treat the cause. Our thinning hair guide covers what products can and can't do.
