Nutritive is the Kérastase range for dry hair, from lengths that feel a little rough to hair that's properly parched by sun, wind and heat styling. Central Otago's dry air is hard on hair, so it's one of the ranges we reach for most at UKIYO.

Which Nutritive product, and how we use it +

The shampoo choice comes down to density. Bain Satin suits fine to medium hair that needs softness without weight; Bain Satin Riche is for thicker, very dry hair. Lait Vital is the everyday conditioner. Masquintense is the weekly mask, again in a regular version for finer hair and a Riche version for thick or coarse hair.

For finishing, Nectar Thermique is a leave-in cream that protects before you blow-dry or straighten. The 8H Magic Night Serum goes on dry ends before bed and works while you sleep, which is handy if you wash less often. Our Nutritive guide matches each product to hair type. Which Kérastase Nutritive product should I start with?
If you only buy two, get the Bain Satin that matches your density and the Masquintense. That covers cleansing and the weekly deep treatment, which is where dry hair sees the most difference. Add Lait Vital for everyday conditioning once you've used those for a few weeks, then Nectar Thermique if you blow-dry or straighten. How often should I use Masquintense?
Once a week suits most dry hair. If your hair is very dry or coarse, or you've just come back from a summer of sun and lake swimming, twice a week is fine. Use it in place of your conditioner, on towel-dried lengths, and leave it for a few minutes before rinsing. Keep it off the roots, especially if they get oily.

Is Nutritive too heavy for fine hair?
Not if you pick the right versions. Bain Satin and the regular Masquintense are made for fine to medium hair and won't drag it flat if you rinse well. The Riche versions are richer and better kept for thick or coarse hair. Fine hair usually does best with conditioner and mask on the ends only, and a small amount of Nectar Thermique rather than a full palmful.

How do I use the Nutritive 8H Magic Night Serum?
Smooth a small amount through dry lengths and ends before bed, focusing where hair feels roughest. Kérastase designed it to work overnight, so there's nothing to rinse out in the morning. It's handy if you wash every two or three days, as it keeps ends soft in between. Start with less than you think you need and add more next time if ends still feel dry. Is Nutritive the right Kérastase range for dry hair, or should I use something else?
Nutritive is for dryness: hair that feels rough, dull or hard to brush. If your hair is snapping or feels stretchy when wet, that's damage rather than dryness, and Résistance is a better fit. Coloured hair that's also dry often does well with Chroma Absolu. Plenty of our clients mix them, using a Nutritive mask with a different shampoo.
