Questions we get asked +
What is a scalp reset shampoo?
It's a purifying shampoo that clears oil, product and build-up from the scalp so your usual routine works properly again. Wella Scalp Recovery Purifying Shampoo does this job, and Kérastase Spécifique Bain Divalent suits oily roots with dry ends. Add the Wella Scalp Purifying Exfoliator once a week if you use a lot of dry shampoo or styling product.
Which shampoo should I use for flakes?
Kérastase Symbiose comes in two: Bain Pureté Anti-Pelliculaire for flakes on an oily scalp and Bain Crème Anti-Pelliculaire for flakes on a dry or sensitive scalp. Angel Green Tea Anti Dandruff and Sebastian Man The Purist are other options. If flakes don't settle after a few weeks, or your scalp is red or sore, see your GP or a dermatologist. Read our dandruff and itchy scalp guide.
What helps a sensitive, itchy scalp?
Start with a gentle wash such as Kérastase Spécifique Bain Vital Dermo-Calm, and keep hot water and heavy styling product off the scalp. Wella Scalp Recovery Scalp Soothing Serum and Angel Citrus Scalp Relaxing Essence are leave-on options. Itching that's persistent, painful or comes with a rash is worth showing a GP or dermatologist, not treating with shampoo.
How often should I use a scalp scrub or serum?
For most people, an exfoliator like the Wella Scalp Purifying Exfoliator once a week is plenty. Overdoing it can irritate the scalp. Leave-on serums such as Kérastase Symbiose Sérum Nuit or Nutritive Nutri-Supplement Scalp Serum go on a clean scalp, following the directions on the pack. Our scalp health guide covers how we use them.
Will these products help with hair loss?
The Wella Scalp + Hair Thickening Systems and Hair Thickening Gel are designed to make hair look and feel fuller. They aren't a treatment for hair loss. If you're shedding more than usual, losing hair in patches or your part is widening, see your GP or a dermatologist first so the cause can be checked.
