What's the difference between Color Extend Magnetics and Blondage?
Color Extend Magnetics is for coloured hair in general, made to protect colour and reduce fading between salon visits. Color Extend Blondage is for blonde and lightened hair. The Blondage shampoo is purple-toned to help neutralise brassy, yellow tones. If you're blonde, Blondage; any other colour, Magnetics.

How often should I use the Blondage purple shampoo?
Start with once or twice a week, alternating with a gentler shampoo on other wash days. Leave it on for a minute or two, longer if you're seeing more brass. If your blonde starts to look lilac or dull, use it less often. Our Blondage guide walks through how to get the timing right.

Is Redken Color Extend a hair dye?
No. Color Extend is colour care, not colour. It's a shampoo, conditioner and mask range designed to keep salon colour looking fresh for longer. It won't change your colour, apart from the Blondage shampoo, which tones down brassiness in blonde hair. For a colour change, book in with one of our colourists at UKIYO in Wānaka.

How do I make my hair colour last longer?
Use a colour-care shampoo and conditioner like Color Extend Magnetics, wash with lukewarm water and try to wash a little less often. Use heat protection before you style and cover up in strong sun. Our Color Extend Magnetics guide has more on building a routine around it.

Do I need the Blondage mask as well as the shampoo?
Not always, but it helps. Lightened hair tends to be drier and more porous, and the Blondage mask adds conditioning that a shampoo can't. Use it once a week in place of your conditioner, more if your ends feel rough. If your blonde stays bright and your hair feels fine, you can skip it.
