What is Redken Extreme for?
Extreme is Redken's strengthening range for weak, distressed hair that breaks or snaps. Redken builds it around protein to reinforce the hair. It suits hair that's been through a lot of heat styling, brushing or colour and feels fragile. If your hair is mostly dry rather than breaking, All Soft is the better range. What's the difference between Redken Extreme and Extreme Length?
Extreme is the core strengthening range for damaged, breaking hair. Extreme Length is for people growing their hair out, built to reduce breakage so you keep the length you grow. It includes the shampoo, conditioner, Triple Action Mask and Length Sealer for the ends. Our Extreme Length guide covers the routine.

How do I use Redken Extreme Play Safe?
Play Safe is a leave-in treatment with heat protection. Spray or apply it to damp hair before blow-drying, straightening or curling, comb it through and style as usual. It's a good everyday leave-in if you use hot tools and your hair is prone to breakage. Don't rinse it out.

What's the difference between Anti-Snap and CAT?
Anti-Snap is a leave-in treatment you apply to damp hair after washing to help stop breakage between washes. CAT is a rinse-out protein treatment used after shampooing, left on briefly and then rinsed. Use CAT when your hair feels weak and over-processed; use Anti-Snap as your day-to-day leave-in. Many clients use both.

Can you use too much protein on your hair?
Yes, and Extreme is protein-based. If your hair starts to feel stiff, straw-like or brittle, it may be getting more protein than it needs. Swap in a moisture mask, like Redken All Soft Heavy Cream, for a week or two and see how it feels. Most people do well alternating the Extreme mask with a moisturising one.
