Blonde foils in Wānaka

When you want bright, crisp, defined highlights — not the soft balayage look — foils are the play. We use Wella Blondor and integrate Redken's Acidic Bonding Concentrate into every blonde service to keep the hair structurally strong.

Foils vs balayage — which is right for you?

Foils give brighter, more defined contrast and lift — great for clients going noticeably blonder or wanting a refresh that's clearly visible. Balayage is softer and grows out more gently. Most clients eventually mix the two — foils up top, balayage through the lengths. We'll talk you through it at consultation.

Bond protection — non-negotiable

Bleach lifts moisture and breaks bonds. Every blonde service at UKIYO includes Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate or an in-salon Olaplex treatment, no upcharge. We'd rather build it into the service than have you re-book in three months for damage repair.

What it costs

Half-head foils from $260, full-head from $360. Toner included. Add-on Cicaflash Fondant treatment $25 (worth it after a full lift). All services include a complimentary blow-dry.

Frequently asked

Will foils damage my hair?

Bleach is bleach — it lifts. With proper bond-builder integration (we use it on every client), good post-care, and the right product mix at home, foils don't have to be damaging. Most clients see no breakage if they follow our home routine.

How often do I refresh foils?

8–12 weeks for most. Some clients stretch it to 14 weeks with toner refreshes in between.

Can I get foils on coloured hair?

Sometimes — depends on what colour, when, and which products. Best to send us a photo or come in for a free consultation before booking.
